Caitlin’s story
When Caitlin joined the Sport 4 Life NEET programme, she had aspirations of becoming a sports coach and working with children, but didn’t how she was going to achieve this goal.
Caitlin suffered from depression and mental health issues as a result of a close family bereavement. This knocked her off track from her goal to attend university as she ended up dropping out of college. With her life seemingly spiralling out of control and seeing some of her friends going towards a life of crime, Caitlin was determined this setback would not get the better of her.
Caitlin worked with her mentors to develop a plan of action that would enable her to achieve her goal of becoming a sports coach. Through five week NEET Programme, Caitlin developed employability and life skills by gaining accredited qualifications in Sports Leadership and Life and Living Skills. She was supported by a local business with mock interviews and also led on a social action event in her local community.
“Sport 4 Life has had a massive impact on my life. I can never forget all the help they have given me.”
Following the programme, Caitlin worked with her mentors to find a traineeship opportunity with Aspire. She successfully completed the traineeship and has gone onto secure an apprenticeship with the same organisation.
